Gary E. Mason of Mason Lietz & Klinger LLP was appointed Co-Lead Counsel in a class action against Plum Organics and Campbell’s. The complaint alleges that the Plum sold baby food products containing heavy metals yet marketed these products as healthy and as not containing harmful ingredients. The litigation follows the release of a report by the U.S. House of RepresentativD.es Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy, Committee on Oversight and Reform (“House Committee”) issued a detailed report titled, Baby Foods are Tainted with Dangerous Levels of Arsenic, Lead, Cadmium and Mercury (the “House Report”), which revealed testing showing that numerous baby food products contained elevated levels of toxic heavy metals, implicating the business practices of every major baby food manufacturer and certain retailers. Campbell (and implicitly Plum as the wholly-owned operating subsidiary of Campbell at the time) was one of seven companies named in the House Report.
